Rube Goldberg Machine

A working chain reaction machine designed to perform a simple task in an indirect or overly complicated way.

The Problem:

Minimize the complexity of manufacturing product components in the design and completion of a complex working machine.

The Results:

A successful, working machine with functioning individual components and consistent mechanisms. An iterative process based on detailed planning of time and cost for individual components was used to minimize part complexity starting with the design phase. A focus on increased consistency and ease of use for the different components was a guideline for refining and improving the machine as it was built, so that the finished machine achieved the desired results.
